Lunch- 6 miles with Fedor, then 4 by myself around GE.  I signed up for a 6k trail race in Greenville this weekend- should be fun.  Looks like I'm on a "short race" streak.

On a related note, I finish the month with 260 miles, of which 231 were running.  This is my highest Jan mileage ever (2010 = 228 miles, 55 running; 2009 = 145 miles; 2008 = 199 miles), so that's a good sign.  Although not being in Logan definitely made it easier.

AM- 3 mile warmup, then planned on a 7 mile tempo.  Felt like crap right from the start, but slogged through 3 miles before slowing it down.  After about a mile, I felt better and decided to give it another go for at least 2 miles.  4 miles later, I had my 7 mile tempo (averaged 6:11 miles, I think).  12 miles total for the run.  Good lesson in not giving up too early when you don't feel good at the start of a tempo.

Lunch (aka 3 hours after my first run)- 8.5 more with some of the guys.  Felt much better than expected.

PM- 5.5 miles.  Looks like 38 deg and rainy for the 6k trail race tomorrow.  And the almost 2" of rain the past 4 days guarantee it will be muddy and fun!

Had a great time running the very muddy Foothills Drifter 6k trail race this morning- report on my Green Shorts running blog.  Finish the week with a fun race, some good mileage, and feeling strong to continue progressing in the coming months.  I feel like I'm starting to get in shape.
