Wow, watching the live feed results and at the last checkpoint Jon is in a close race for 2/3/4 with some tough runners! He is running awesome!

Amazing result, congrats Jon on the podium finish! You hung with some very tough runners, you are a true Ultra champion!

From JD on Sat, Sep 24, 2011 at 19:53:10 from 97.117.107.209

Just incredible hearing/seeing Jon mix it up with these other top ultra runners from around the country. So cool to hear the name Allen in the same sentence as Sharman, Roes, Wardian etc. Congratulations Jon!

From Aaron Kennard on Sat, Sep 24, 2011 at 22:59:38 from 98.245.117.176

YEAH JON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations. Awesome race, way to take home some cash.

I predicted this on the live feed about 30 miles into the race:

Comment From Aaron

My prediction: Mackey is going to seal the deal with the win. Roes won't finish in top 5 if he finishes. Wardian will push mackey all the way but finish 2nd. Sharman will close strong in top 5. Gall will hold on to top 5. Jon Allen will close strong in 5th or 6th.

Well, I was sure wrong about Geoff/Mackey, but looks like I nailed the Wardian/sharman/Jon Allen predictions! That's an awesome performance against such a stacked field Jon.

Awesome job Jon! I loved the comments the RD made about you during the awards ceremony! Geoff had a truly amazing race.

Niiice. I followed splits a bit during the day, and was stoked for you on the final result. Way to stamp a name for yourself, and DELIVER! I always feel like there's extra pressure to perform when I get "elite status" at a race, so I'm sure it felt great to come through like that.

From Jon on Tue, Sep 27, 2011 at 22:40:59 from 74.177.125.83

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Aaron, props for calling the results ahead of time. Though you missed pretty much everyone but me :)

Paul- yeah, the Elite status was interesting, but fun. Lots of stuff at this race- videos, Q&A session, etc. It felt great to justify being there to place 5th.

Actually I got 3 out of the top 5 correct thanks to you!
