50 deg, sunny, light breeze for frisbee. 7v7, other team had sub. Very evenly matched. Some bad throws but very competitive today. I had a couple forced throws early but got that out of my system and threw well during the game. No drops. No team ever had a lead of more than 1. My team won 5-4. Some of the points took a long time with tough defense. Fun game today.

6v6 frisbee- 55 deg, partly cloudy, small breeze- perfect weather. I played fine, no drops and throws were fine. The team that received the kickoff scored every time, so my team won 5-4. Good game.

elliptical and weights. Woke up at 5 am to get in my workout before an early morning meeting that someone had scheduled. I got to my desk just in time for the meeting to start. At the same time, the rescheduled the meeting to another day. Sigh.

AM ran 4 miles on GE trail. Actually felt real good. 3 deer, 8 turkeys.

AM 6 miles on GE trail. Best I've felt on a run in a long time. Started 8:45 pace, ran lots at 7:45 pace. No turkeys (surprisingly) but about 5 deer. Then did hard session of weight lifting for 45 minutes. Today was my longest run since my injury in April.

Funny fact- when I first injured my groin in April, part of my rehab was regular weighlifting. At the time, one focus was the hip adductor machine, where I could only lift about 70 lbs. The trainer recommended to bump up the weight to the max 205 lb at the end to do a few static pushing reps. Well, I can now comfortably lift the max weight on that machine. On no other weight machine am I lifting more than half of the stack (or so), but on this one machine I am lifting the entire thing. I find that funny. I wonder if my leg scissor lock is now super strong.

Lunch- 7v7 frisbee on a cool, sunny, breezy day (most significant wind in months). My team did really well in the warm up which is bad, cause the better team at first usually loses. In game to 5, my team went up 3-1, then the other team scored 3 straight, then my team scored 2 straight to win 5-4. Good game. I had a couple bad throws (one of which was still caught for a score) but otherwise threw fine, did fine defense, and didn't drop any passes. Fun game today.

Lunch- first very windy day of the fall. 6v6 plus my team had a 12 year old playing on it. The other team had 1 brand new guy and one pretty new guy, which really hurt them when throwing with the wind. Interestingly, the first 3 points were scored into the headwind. My team went up 3-1, then 3-2, then we won 5-2. I played fine, no big mistakes or spectacular plays. Wind games always add some throwing adventure.

AM- it was cold, rainy, and windy so I ran inside. 4 miles. Then weight, except leg press caused pain in my left knee so I didn't do that one for sets 2 and 3.

AM 5 miles running. Knee hurts when I bend it deep or push hard, but not when running so that's good.

Still cold so ran on treadmill. 8:30-8:00 pace, 6 miles, then 45 min weight session. Knee still bugging a bit, but not when running. I'll take it.

Lunch- 6v6 on the old field (it's been raining so we didn't want to tear up our new field). Very, very windy. My team played poorly- lots of bad throws, drops, blocks, etc. Lots of turnovers by both teams due to the wind, but we got beat 5-1. It was a butt-kicking.

Had a good weekend, lots of kid activities. Winning doesn't matter but is still kind of fun. Zach finished his baseball season a few weeks ago with 11-1 record. Aspen's soccer finished this weekend with a 10-0-1 record (same team finished 0-6-6 last year). Quincy's soccer team finished 7-2-2. Lots of fun to cheer on the kids and see them play hard.

Frisbee today was fun. 50 deg, muddy, overcast, slight breeze. We played 4 vs 5, my team had 1 fewer person on the field. Lots of running and I really noticed the bad cold I have right now. We were tied 3-3 before we made a few mistaked (2 bad throws and 1 drop) that doomed us, so lost 3-5. But I thought we did pretty well for ourselved considering we had fewer players and could have won.

No workout today. I went from feeling fine to having a pretty bad cold Sunday night. Monday, I felt good enough to play frisbee at lunch, but by the evening I felt terrible- completely stuffed up, fever, sore, tired. I fell asleep on the couch at 9, moved to my bed at midnight, and slept over 10 hours. I still feel very tired and weak today so will just rest from any workouts. Unfortunately, work demands will see me put in a 10-12 hour day in the office.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

After a solid 1.5 weeks straight of being very sick (let's just say I've gone to bed before 10 pm more times this month than the previous 5 years combined), I'm finally starting to feel better. My family went to a local 5-can-per-person turkey fun run. 1.5 mile loop, you can run up to 4. I ran the first loop with my 4 year old- I was very proud of her as she barely complained and ran every step in 19 minutes! We caught my 6 year old halfway through so she joined us. Marci and Kinley ran 2 loops, Aspen did 3, Zach did 2 by himself (I'm proud of him- only 8 years old). Once a family friend showed up, I ran another loop in 13 minutes. I can tell I've been sick but had fun. Nice little course winding all around a high school sports fields. Big crowd, good way to start Thanksgiving.
