I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

No run today.  Long, busy day.  In some good news, we closed on our house in Utah.  Unfortunately, we had to take a hefty check to closing- that definitely hurts.  But at least we sold it- there are a lot of people in this country who would love to sell their houses, even at a loss.  Now we can low-ball the crud out of everyone here to find a good deal.

Ouch! Sorry about that. Maybe you can at least get a good deal on the house you buy in Greenville?

The book was my way of saying thanks to you for opening up a whole new world of running for me. Seriously, that was the experience of a lifetime - and something I never would have done without you.

OH yeah... just read the second half of your post. What you said.

From Jon on Fri, Oct 29, 2010 at 22:29:13 from

Very glad to hear you enjoyed it so much. So do you plan to do it (or similar) in the future?

From Rob Murphy on Fri, Oct 29, 2010 at 23:03:52 from

I'm torn and conflicted now Jon. Definitely someday, but I believe I have a sub 2:40 marathon in me and I'd like to do that. The clock is ticking at 46 though. One thing I learned at the Grand Canyon is that I might have the right mindset to be a good ultra runner.

But I'd definitely like to do the Grand Canyon again next year. I'm pretty sure Jeff will do it, and Steve Anderson too. With eleven months to plan you can surely swing it right?

I'm re-reading the book I sent you now. It's so much better now that I've been there. Powell was one crazy mother. Nothing got that man down.

Congrats on closing on the house!! That is great news.

congrats on getting rid of the house...and you can be 10X more grateful that you didn't have to bring cash to the table to on over 10 houses...you think one hurts...

good plan on low-balling crud out of people...Time to return the favor, and let someone else be rid of their house at a loss.
