Official report on my green shorts running blog.  Summary- a beautiful, exceedingly runnable (yet still very rocky/rooty) trail race across the spine of the Iron Mountains of Virginia.  Very well-run, well-marked race.  29 miles with a surprising 7500 ft climbing and 7500 ft descending (take that, Logan Peak!), all of it between 2000-4000 ft.  I took 1st place by 40 minutes, beating the course record by over an hour, as aided by my gorgeous crew (Marci).  Very enjoyable day.

Weekly total of 95 miles with over 15000 ft climbing.  Good stuff.

Wow, congrats on a stellar race and win and course record. You rule on both coasts now!

Awesome! I never had any doubt that you would win, but to destroy the course record. Very nice. Looking good for the big dance. Recover well now and see you soon!

Way to go, very impressive. Way to show those eastern runners how to climb. Sounds like a fun time. See you at Bear. I just have one more long run before "the big dance." Ha, ha.

WOW! Way to crush it out there. You are on serious form right now. That is really fast for that much climbing. Big congrats.

Really looking forward to following Bear and seeing you kick some butt. Cool to see the competition stacking up over there...Mike Foote, Dakota Jones, now Scott Jaime. Should be an awesome race! Who else do you see to be in contention?

Aaron- Andy Jones Wilkins is planning to run it, and Evan Honeyfield has already registered. Plus, 2008 winner Ty Draney will be there. And there are always some late-comers. Should be a good race.

Nice! That will be a good race. Totally stoked for you.

BTW...did you see AJW just beat Duncan Callahan at the Grand Teton 100 early this AM? If he pulled off a win at the bear it would be his 3rd 100 mile win in a matter of 2 months, and that would be seriously incredible. I'm going to cast my doubt on that happening personally. Not to be a naysayer to him, because he's an incredible runner, but that seems like a tall order. Especially with the all the competition that are going in probably a lot more recovered.

From Jon on Mon, Sep 06, 2010 at 08:10:53 from 98.71.139.73

I heard that. They both broke the old CR. Two good runners- and I've met both of them, 2 nice guys.

Way to dominate the competition out there. Rest up and good luck in your upcoming BEAR of a race.
