I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos! And I have the absolute best wife in the world. And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!
Lunch- 4 slow miles. 8:40-8:00 pace. Blah. Can't believe how out of shape, overweight, and slow I am these days. I really need to turn all of this around.

You will. Downtime is good I think for runners who are in it for the long term. You have had a pretty intense ultra career the last few years. Speaking of which, I just saw a documentary on Badwater and I thought of you. It really intrigued me as well having a lot of respect for those folks who completed the event. What are your thoughts about it?

Running Badwater will make you look like a withered prune and it will melt your shoes.

I think Badwater is definitely a tough event, from what I know and people I've talked to. Doesn't interest me at all- I don't like racing on roads or the heat. But some people seem to really take to it. To each their own. No one will say it's easy.
