Went to the airport to fly to SLC, then run Logan Peak trail run tomorrow... except my flight was cancelled.  They rebooked me to arrive Saturday night at 11 pm, which obviously means I will miss my race tomorrow.  This sucks.  A power outage at Chicago stopped a lot of planes from flying out last night.  Anyways, I guess I have it better than some people, like a couple near me whose son is getting married tonight.  And the people next to me in the hour-long rebooking line are aspiring ultra runners, so we had fun talking.

I guess I now have 2 open days to head to the mountains of South Carolina.  Not where I wanted to be, but better than nothing.  Of course, the record highs of 105 expected this weekend are going to make these runs very sweaty.  Bring it on.

Total bummer Jon - that just stinks. Sorry to hear it.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 08:38:26 from 69.10.215.11

Ouch. Probably too late now but drive to Atlanta and fly direct on Delta. Last minute flights can be cheap if they have seats to fill...

From Jon on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 08:42:45 from 74.177.123.81

Yeah, I looked, Dale. $800 to $1400 one way. Guess that means no seats to fill.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 08:50:05 from 69.10.215.11

No Frequent Flyer miles? 40k miles + 2.50 gets you from ATL to SLC by 9:10pm.

From Jon on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 10:05:25 from 74.177.123.81

I have some miles, but not 40k. Unless someone is donating. Not much I can reasonably do at this point without spending $600+ dollars.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 10:35:19 from 69.10.215.11

How many miles are you short of 40k? I might be willing to donate, but looks like there is a transfer charge that depends on the quantity.

From Jon on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:13:02 from 74.177.123.81

Hey everyone- Dale is the most awesome person in the world. Thanks to him, I'm going to LP after all! I'm going to be dang tired with only a couple hours sleep, but I'll be there. Dale is awesome.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:15:32 from 69.10.215.11

Dale is awesome. Not that I'm into self-promotion.

Better change your blog title.....again.

I did mention the condition, right?. Must trounce Cody.

Go get 'em.

From Cody on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:22:27 from 107.0.33.130

Dale is awesome!!

Especially if I ignore his last statement. I can look past his faults especially if he gets jon here so Joe AND I can trounce him!

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:24:09 from 69.10.215.11

Dale is awesome.

Actually, I was getting ready to write on your blog that I was sending Jon your way so you could trounce him. I'm actually just really into the carnage and trash talking that will inevitably occur.

From Cody on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:28:02 from 107.0.33.130

I would hate to hear the whining if Jon couldn't come. He would always wonder (and talk about) how close he could have come to 3rd place....

From Cody on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:29:46 from 107.0.33.130

Dale, why don't you take back the miles you gave him and you come run LPR. It would be better competition...

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:30:09 from 69.10.215.11

Dale is awesome.

Actually, he was telling me that he could beat you on 30 minutes sleep. Something about you being first loser or something.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:31:37 from 69.10.215.11

Dale is awesome.

Damn. Only 20k miles from Seatac to SLC. If only I had the miles.....

From Predog on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:51:36 from 71.195.198.250

Dale, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It's nice to know that people on the blog still do stuff like this. Winning the race isn't enough. It would only be a hollow victory without beating Jon.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:53:28 from 69.10.215.11

Wait, so now Jon's only going to come in like 4th? Wow, I didn't know I was backing such a longshot. I might've reconsidered.....

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:54:31 from 69.10.215.11

Oh, and lest everything think I'm crazy generous, Jon is compensating me for my miles. I think we agreed on like $100 for 1 frequent flyer mile. My math may be a tad off.

From Jon on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:59:01 from 74.177.123.81

Dale is awesome.

Nuff said.

From Jon on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 12:59:59 from 74.177.123.81

Dale is awesome.

We'll figure out the Cody vs. Joe vs. Jon bit on the course tomorrow.

From Dale on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 13:01:59 from 69.10.215.11

Actually, I think I'm contractually obligated to root for Cody so he doesn't bring up the time I put my truck in the ditch during the ragnar relay in WA, nearly ruining our short-lived course record.

From Cody on Fri, Jun 29, 2012 at 17:16:06 from 107.0.33.130

Eh, the statute of limitations is up on that contract. Put your money on Joe (predog)
