I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. AM- 8.5 ez.

Lunch- no run.  Instead participated in obstacle course.  Our coed team set the fastest time overall!  (I heard a later male team beat us by 2 sec)  Won $25 gas cards.  1 mile.

PM- Barry hurt his back, so I was all alone at Paris Mtn.  First time there in a month, I think.  Very hot and humid- mid 90's.  I did a bit of a workout, running 1.18 miles hard up the Kanuga hill (600 ft climb, 140 drop = 460 net uphill) in 11:17, then semi-hard down in 9:00, then again hard up in 10:59.  Very tired and thirsty after the workout, and I still have 4 miles to go.  Finished with 12.5 miles in 1:54 with 2300 ft climb.  Hot, tired, and happy.

Watched some thunderstorms on the drive home.  Greenville and the South have awesome storms- at least 3 per week that are as bad as any I have ever seen in Denver.  Grabbed dinner at Wendy's and had to wait 8 min- that was annoying.  And since when does a meal cost $8+ at Wendy's???  I've got a few words for Bernanke and his "low inflation", except this is a family friendly website...

I've come to the conclusion that it's just about as cheap to go to an inexpensive sit-down restaurant like Firehouse or something as it is to get fast food these days. This is especially true if you're talking about two or more people.

I think our only hope is Little Ceasars. Unless their $5 pizza is now $9. Or the size of a dinner roll.

Not sure, Davy. Really second guessing myself. I'll put up a post soon on my blogspot. Hope your hand is ok.

Could have been same thing that hit me at mile 52. Not even eating gels like candy and S-caps could get the energy up and stomache feeling nice. Could have been heat related for you.

Hand fine so far. 6 hours from carving it up. no meds, no pain. We will see tonight.

I almost cashed my race in at mile 60. But didn't want to wait for hours for a ride. Bacon 10 miles later pulled me out of it and then I treated it like a fun run.

Yeah, maybe heat. Calories and stomach were fine. Just not my day. Oh well- live and learn. This just rekindled my fire to do better. I was too focused on winning, not finishing.

From crockett on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 23:36:34 from 70.56.102.202

I think that focus is fine and don't think you wimped out. To win takes a different approach and the risks are greater.
