AM- Big Workout on the GE track, a 0.68 mile loop with about 25 ft climb per loop.  Perfect morning for a run- 50 deg and chilly, breezy.  3 miles warmup, then 10 miles tempo.  Goal was 6:05 pace, actual splits were 6:01, 6:03, 6:02, 6:00, 6:00, 5:59, 5:59, 6:02, 6:01, 5:48- so my workout was 59:59 for 10 miles.  Felt good, definitely tired by the end.  3 cooldown- so I did 23.5 laps on the track!  16 miles total in 1:45:30 with 600 ft climb.  First time wearing my Tangents since 2009 TOU.

Lunch- I'm used to doing my second run after work like in Utah.  Doubles are harder here in SC when I do my second run at lunch.  4 hours is not enough time to recover- my legs were still very achy.  Still, ran an enjoyable 8 miles on the wonderful trails behind GE in 69 minutes.

I was tired all day after my runs.  I'm definitely at high-mileage time for the year, marked by a constant, dull ache in my legs.  I guess it means I'm still getting better.  Or older.  I don't feel like I'm in great marathon shape, but my BW today was about as good as anything I did before my 2009 marathon PR.

Nice workout.You're still fast.

Maybe I'll do a 50 miler when you do another road marathon. Fast course, sea level - 2:30ish?

Rob- why deny yourself a fun experience just cause I don't want to downgrade to road? :)

Could I do another road marathon, maybe 2:30? Perhaps. But there are too many trail races all year around here that I enjoy to spend the time trying to get in road PR shape. Then again, I'm going to try to set my 5k PR in a few weeks, so we'll see what speed I have.

Highlight the OLDER part - at least for me!

All good points Jon.

I guess all that's left is for me convince myself that it would be, as you say, a fun experience. I'm almost there.

All I can say, Rob, is to remember what a neat experience you said the R2R2R was. Running that far, that long in nature is enjoyable and teaches you things about yourself. I'm not the one missing out by you not doing them, though.

You should at least go up and do Logan Peak with Cody or something.

You're right Jon.I really want to do the Grand Canyon run again this fall and I'm bummed about Cody's injury problems. I figure I have a few months to convince you to hop on a flight to Phoenix...

Gonna check out that big Republican debate tonight at the Peace Center? Last time I was there was to see Johnny Cash.

Just buy me a plane ticket and pick me up at the airport, Rob... :)

Might be able to work that out. You know Steve is a pilot. Could maybe get you a buddy pass.

A hot shot GE engineer shouldn't have a problem with $ though?
