I have five cute kids. And I have some rockin short green racing shorts- I wear them mainly because it embarrasses my wife so much. I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

PM- Run up Green Canyon to a ways past the yurt.  I ran this 2 weeks ago and it was quite enjoyable as the snow was very packed and there was no ice- I did 10 min miles up, 7 min miles down.  Today was quite a different story- the snow was very slick, sometimes icy, and I either sunk in or slid around.  I averaged 12:15 up and could only do 8:30 pace down- very slow.  I probably won't run this again for another month- it's good when it's cold, and good in the summer, but not when it's thawing.  Too slow and hard to run.  Still nice to be in the mountains.

You should try the BST from Green Canyon. I haven't been on it yet (am planning a long run there in a couple weeks), but it's pretty exposed, and probably dry. The canal trails are all quite dry too.

Which canal trails are you referring to?

And yes, BST is clear, as is Deer Fence.

The upper canal that runs from North Logan to the Smithfield golf course (about 4.5 miles one-way). And the middle canal that runs from Hyde Park to Smithfield.

Also, Birch Creek should be really good by now. It was way muddy a week ago, but I can't imagine it's still muddy by now. Will probably check it out on Thursday. Haven't been up Smithfield Canyon yet.
