AM- Considered a challenging run today, then decided to just go easy again.  10 miles on the river trail, starting at Stokes.  22 cars in the parking lot, which ended up belonging to the Mountain Crest cross country team members and parents, out for a run on the trail.

Grand Mesa 50 mile race report has now been posted.

Very well done! That was a good write up and a great job in the race! And no need to apologize on the length, its great to read the detail and the play by play. Congrats on a solid performance against the clock and your sole, yet very capable sounding competitor!

I bet that steep climb was murderous on zeke with only 1 bottle if you were dry and had 2! Did you forget to wear sunblock or just not enough? Sunburns are one of the worst things ever, especially blistering ones. I wear my kids 70 spf sunblock every time these days which has kept me sunburn free for a long time now.

great report and cool pictures. i agree with aaron, the length was not an issue because the content was very interesting and detailed. congrats on the win. ouch on the sunburn.

Good report. Always nice to read about the suffering of others :)

What do you tote your "stuff" (i.e. maps, gels, food, etc) with in ultra races? I haven't found a good solution yet.

Aaron- Zeke carried 2 bottles on that portion, but we both ran dry!

I put on sunscreen, but apparently not near enough for the hot sun at 10,000 ft.

Dale- I have a Nathan HPL #028 (the Krissy pack) that I use. Not sure it's for sale anymore- it's just a vest with a small pouch in back and 2 things up front. Very handy to carry maps, gu's, and stash an extra bottle (or 2) or clothes in back. Light and comfortable.
