I like ultimate frisbee, trail running, reading, and cheering for the Denver Broncos!   And I have the absolute best wife in the world.  And I used to run for the now-disbanded national Team Pearl Izumi- Ultra!

2 very, very slow miles pushing the jogging stroller.  This was after a very fun, yet tiring, day of downhill powder skiing at the Beav.  First time I have tried running after skiing, and it didn't work.

Just curious- do you guys ever attempt to account for other forms of physical exercise as some sort of equivalent mileage?  For example, a day of skiing?  I also play 2 hours of basketball every Thursday and 2-4 hours of ultimate frisbee every Saturday.  Thoughts?

Welcome to the blog. I typically only count other forms of exercise as "mileage" if it is a very steady and structured aerobic workout. For example, I'll count elliptical training or XC skiing as mileage, but not downhill skiing. But that's just me. For "irregular" activities (lots of starts and stops), it's too hard for me to figure out mileage, so I don't bother.

I think Daniels says to count cross training as about 2/3 of normal miles, so if I do 30 minutes on the elliptical, I count it as 2 miles running.

Hey Jon,

I would count the ultimate for-sure. I have played some serious ultimate that was similar to some interval workouts. Shorter periods of all out effort and very little rest.

Good to see you on the blog.
